The Youth Groups from Temple Beth-El and Congregation B’nai Torah in Ormond Beach, and Temple Beth Shalom in Palm Coast conducted their annual Trick or Treat for Hunger food drive to collect donations for the Jewish Federation’s Jerry Doliner Food Bank.

The youth groups collected the donations on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, after distributing fliers door to door the week before. The food was collected for the Jewish Federation of Volusia & Flagler Counties’ Jerry Doliner Food Bank in Ormond Beach, which feeds 24,000 economically disadvantaged people in the community each year, regardless of race or religion.

“What a great deed this is,” said Gloria Max, executive director of the Jewish Federation. “Instead of thinking about themselves, these youths passed out fliers asking people in their neighborhood for food to feed the hungry last week and what a haul they received for the Jewish Federation of Volusia & Flagler Counties.

“Rabbi Zev Sonnenstein from Temple Beth Shalom for many years got his congregation and the youths involved in trick or treating for hunger. Dr. Steven Berman and his sons, Dr. Ken Nusbaum and Bev Waigand organized the trick or treating for hunger and the youths from Temple Beth-El and Congregation B’nai Torah,” Max added.
