Rotary Club Donates $500 to Backpack Project

The Federation has provided more than 95,000 backpacks, filled with school supplies, to economically disadvantaged students in Volusia and Flagler counties in the past 21 years.

Joyce Shanahan, president of the Rotary Club of Daytona Beach and city manager of Ormond Beach, and Dr. David Lloyd, member of the Rotary Club Board of Directors and Daytona Beach dentist, present a $500 donation to Marvin Miller, center, co-president of the Jewish Federation of Volusia and Flagler Counties, for the Federation’s Project Backpack at a luncheon Feb. 27.

The Federation has provided more than 95,000 backpacks, filled with school supplies, to economically disadvantaged students in Volusia and Flagler counties in the past 21 years. The fundraising campaign is now underway for 2017. One hundred percent of donations go directly to providing quality backpacks filled with age-appropriate school supplies this summer before school starts.
