Raising Money For Victims of Hurricane Harvey
The Jewish Federation of Volusia & Flagler Counties is raising funds to help flood victims from Hurricane Harvey in Texas.
The Jewish Federation provides disaster assistance to families, regardless of race or religion. Donations are tax-deductible and 100 percent of the money raised will go to disaster victims. The Federation already has reached out to religious institutions in the heavily flooded areas and will act quickly to speed money to the victims.
“We don’t raise a lot of funds, but this money is the first money the victims receive and the letters we receive after disasters show us how appreciative they are,” said Federation Executive Director Gloria Max, adding that she and her husband know how “horrible” the conditions can be because they were flood victims when they lived in West Virginia years ago.
“The Federation always budgets for disasters, but we need the assistance of the community so we can help more families,” she said.
