Speaker Joyce Antler: "Rabbis, Rebels, and Supreme Court Justices: How Jewish Women Shaped Modern America"

Joyce Antler is the Samuel Lane Professor of American Jewish History and Culture and Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies at Brandeis University. She is the author or editor of 11 books, including The Journey Home: How Jewish Women Shaped Modern America, Talking Back: Images of Jewish Women in American Popular Culture, America and I: Short Stories by American Jewish Women Writers, and You Never Call! You Never Write! A History of the Jewish Mother, which won an award from the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association for best book on women’s issues. She is currently writing a history of radical feminism and Jewish identity.

Speaker Major General (Ret.) David Tzur: “Israel’s Security and Terrorism Concerns”

Major General (Ret.) David Tzur served as commander of an elite counter-terrorism unit in the Israel Defense Forces and the Coastal Plain District Police. After his military service, he joined the Israel Police and served in the Counter-Terrorism Unit. In the mid-1990s he took a leave of absence to work as a security consultant for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. When he returned to Israel he was appointed Deputy Chief of the Operations Department of the police force. In 2000, he became Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Public Security. He served as commander of the Israel Border Police between 2002 and 2004, and the District Commander of the police in Tel Aviv from 2004 to 2008. Afterwards, he was the CEO and owner of the GLS security consulting firm, and from 2008 to 2013 was External Director of Epsilon Funds.

In February 2013, David Tzur was elected to the Knesset on behalf of the Tenua Party. MK Tzur chairs the subcommittee for the War against Traffic Accidents, as well as the Joint Subcommittee for Victims of Violence and Racism in Sports. He is a member of a few Knesset committees, such as the Economy Affiars, Internal Affairs, and for Environment, to mention only a few of them. David Tzur holds a BA Degree in Middle East Studies from the University of Tel Aviv.
